Fulton used the running power of tailback Don Watson to rush past Carthage in the opening round of the Section III football playoffs, 34-15.
Watson scored on fourth quarter runs of 9 and 21 yards to put the game away. He ran for more than 110 yards.
Carthage opened the scoring with a 37 yard field goal, but DJ Ingham answered with a short TD run and the 2 point conversion to give Fulton a permanent lead.
Fulton QB Brett Williams pushed over the line on a one yard run in the second quarter. Ingham’s conversion run gave Fulton a 16-3 halftime lead.
An interception TD return and Watson’s two TDs gave Fulton more than enough points to withstand Carthage.
Fulton now faces Whitesboro, which demolished Jamesville-Dewitt, 40-0. In the other half of the Class A bracket, New Hartford pounded Nottingham and ES-M won a 32-28 shootout with Indian River. The higher seeded team won in each instance.
