OSWEGO, NY – Former Indy Car star Davey Hamilton will return behind the wheel of a Supermodified as part of Oswego Speedway’s Galloway Century 21 and Oswego D Bus Independence Weekend ‘Grand Prix’ special this Saturday, June 30.
Hamilton will again pilot one of the potent John Nicotra Racing machines, this weekend in the No. 7 car that Otto Sitterly has reworked over the winter.
The Indianapolis, Ind., driver will first test on Friday before driving the car as the renumbered ‘6’ on Saturday while Sitterly continues with the former Joey Moriarty No. 51.
Hamilton is looking forward to finally returning to Oswego for the first time since his fifth place effort in the 2016 Budweiser International Classic 200.
“It’s been a long time since I have been able to race at Oswego, so I am really looking forward to racing this weekend with Otto and Johnny (Nicotra),” Hamilton said.
The 1997 International Classic champion has not won at the speedway since his lone main event victory in 2013, but Hamilton hopes that soon changes with several more Supermodified races circled on his schedule throughout the remainder of the season.
“I know the competition is fierce,” Hamilton said. “The 75-lapper this weekend will give me the opportunity to get up to speed and prepare for more races later in the year.”
To purchase tickets for Hamilton’s return, please call the speedway box office at (315)-342-0646.
General admission seating is just $17.
Racing action this weekend will get under way at 6:15 p.m with group time trials before qualifying heat action for the Novelis Supermodified and Pathfinder Bank SBS ‘Grand Prix’ features gets the green flag at 6:45 p.m.
