Oswego State women’s ice hockey team gets a hat trick of shutouts

Fox Chapel, P.A. – The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team completed a sweep of Chatham University on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 victory.

It was the Lakers’ third straight shutout, including second in as many days, as the team improved to 6-1-1 on the year and 4-1-1 in conference competition.

Six different Lakers earned points in Sunday’s contest while Tori Trovato earned the victory in net, finishing with nine saves.

After a scoreless first period, Leslie Jarvis scored 12:45 into the second on a power-play.

The goal was assisted by teammate Megan Hagg. Less than six minutes later Emma Smetaniuk added another goal of the power-play variety, with her score being assisted by Alli Ullrich.

In the final period, Alexa Aramburu scored Oswego’s final goal on a pass from Brennan Butler.

The Lakers will have a quick turnaround as they return to the ice at 4 p.m. on Tuesday to take on Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y.
