Oswego Sub Shop Peewees Defeat Binghamton, Clinton

On Saturday, the Oswego Sub Shop Peewees traveled to the Ice House in Binghamton to take on the Binghamton Junior Devils emerging victorious with a score of 4-3.

Oswego’s Brayden Miller opened the scoring with an assist to Lucas Manniccia with just over five minutes remaining in the first period.

The Sub Shop Peewees extended the lead to 2-0 with a 2nd period goal by Ian Cady, assisted by Joe Brodeur.

Binghamton added one at the end of the second to cut Oswego’s lead.

The third period started out great for Oswego as Lucas Maniccia scored 45 seconds in with assists to Mason Kurilovitch and Ian Cady, just under a minute later Kurilovitch lit the lamp with an assist from Cady to make it 4-1 Oswego.

Oswego controlled the play for large parts of the game – the score was kept close by the outstanding play of Binghamton’s goalie Matt Stock who finished with 39 saves.

Binghamton did score twice at the end of the third to make it 4-3, But Oswego goalie Keegan Finch held on with 21 saves to preserve the victory.

Coach Ben Miller praised the team play of his squad saying, “Once again we had really good coverage in our end and were fortunate to beat a very good goalie enough times to get the victory this morning.”

On Sunday The Sub Shop Peewees hosted Clinton at the Crisafulli rink. The Oswego squad battled for two periods in a close game, before scoring six straight goals in the third to earn the 9-2 victory.

The first period saw action in both ends, but neither team could open the scoring, in part because both goalies made very big stops.

Oswego did get on the board with just over two minutes left in the Period when Brayden Miller gained the zone and beat the Clinton defense and goalie Will O”Brien to make it 1-0.

Miller made it 2-0 in the first minute of the second period on a great set up from Connor Morgia and Joe Brodeur.

Oswego’s Louie Roman wristed a shot over O’Brien to make it 3-0 with 6:14 left in the second with an assist coming from Logan Crannell.

Clinton got on the board with just over three minutes left in the period as Tom Bingham’s shot from the top of the circle squeaked past Oswego Goalie Bradley Livsey (16 saves).

With a 3-1 lead going into the third period, the Sub Shop Peewees came out fired up, pouring six straight goals past O”Brien (32 saves).

Joe Brodeur opened the scoring two minutes in on a nifty passing play set up by Brayden Miller and Duncan Baker.

Twenty seconds later Logan Crannell lit the lamp and made it 5-1, on a nice set up from Ian Cady and Michael Fierro.

Mason Kurilovich fired one past O’Brien at the 11:16 mark of the period on an assist from Mia Fierro.

Kurilovich kept it going, feeding Lucas Maniccia who made it 7-1 Oswego.

Clinton’s Gabe Belamy gave the visitors some hope cutting the lead to 7-2 with 3:30 left in the third, but Cady and Baker added late goals to finish the Oswego scoring.

Once again Coach Ben Miller praised his teams hard work for the victory – “again today we were rolling three lines and our skating just got to them as we closed out the game in the third period,” he said.

The Oswego Sub Shop Peewees return to action this weekend with a home contest Saturday morning at 11 versus New Hartford at the Crisafulli Rink, they then travel to Auburn for a Sunday tilt.
