The following notice has been posted for Lake Ontario waters:
Remember the area around the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Facility is off limits to boating. The restricted area stretches 1,000 yards offshore and extends from the Alcan plant to the Sunset Bay area along Lake Ontario, east of the city of Oswego.
The following notice has been posted for the Oswego River:
Due to the construction of the NYS Rte. 104 bridge, certain areas of the Oswego River will be restricted to boat traffic. Please watch for signs and buoys.
Oswego River report:
According to Larry Muroski of Larry’s Oswego Salmon Shop:
The heavy rainfall we received on Sunday has brought the water level in the river back up to 3,000cfs. The activity in the river remains about the same. Anglers are taking bass especially by boat using crayfish. Look for carp taking corn and dough bait. Activity around the Marine Museum and Coast Guard Station is a bit slower due to weed growth but worms and minnows are taking a few panfish.
Lake Ontario report:
According to Capt. Troy Creasy of High Adventure Sportfishing Charters:
Weather and wind direction are always a key factor in any successful fishing trip and this past week has proven to be a challenging one for all anglers. The ole saying, wind out of the east the fish bite the least is a very true statement! Although conditions have been tough on Lake Ontario thus far, the King Salmon fishing continues to entertain anglers. Most of the kings are weighing around 18 pounds with a few in the 20’s. We are taking most of our fish in 200 to 300 feet. of water. The recent winds brought the temperature back up and we are finding the fish down 90 to 120 feet. Brown trout continue to be active in 90 to 150 feet with most of the action being in the early morning, with Raider and Dreamweaver spoons catching most of the fish. The water is changing daily as the winds are really moving things around.
Mexico Bay report:
Mexico Bay is active with a variety of fish. There is some salmon activity in 130 to 400 ft. of water. Brown trout can be found in shallow water near the bottom but be prepared to deal with water fleas. Remember to keep those lines clean. Bass are active taking live minnows and look for a few perch along the shoreline.
Salmon River/Pulaski area report:
According to Woody’s Tackle:
Anglers are continuing to find bass and northern pike in the estuary.
On Lake Ontario, the brown trout fishing has been good in the area in 120 feet of water. Flies and spoons are good choices for bait. There are a few salmon being caught but they are scattered. Mexico Bay is producing some nice bass on live minnows and look for perch in that area in 6-7 feet of water.
Oneida Lake Report:
Walleye fishing has been fair in deep water. Trolled and drifted baits in 40-50 feet of water along with black and purple jigs tipped with a nightcrawler are working. Look for smallmouth bass around the shoals and drop-offs using spinnerbaits, nightcrawlers and crayfish. Largemouth bass are active near weed lines in 6-12 feet of water taking crayfish.
Sandy Pond Report:
According to Capt. Troy Creasy of High Adventure Sportfishing:
The fishing on Sandy Pond has been good. Anglers are finding largemouth bass and northern pike using live minnows and worms. Look for an occasional walleye to be in the mix. I also hear the top-water action has been hot!
