FULTON, NY – One of the most popular events of the racing season for fans and competitors is the 50-lap, $2,500 to-win Industrial Tire Of CNY Sportsman Championship that is part of the Sunoco Ethanol Facility Outlaw 200 Weekend presented by SUNY Canton on October 2-3 at the Fulton Speedway.
Fans and racers love coming to the Fulton Speedway for the wide racing surface that allows for two, three and sometimes four-wide racing on the ‘High Banks.’ In 2014 more than 60 Sportsman signed into the pits to do battle, with only one driver having their name written in the record books as Outlaw 200 Weekend Sportsman Champion.
After a highly successful new format in 2013-2014 for the Sportsman, the same format will continue of qualifying heats on Friday plus consolations. On Saturday there will be last chance qualifiers and a 50-lap feature sharing the center stage with the Outlaw 200 for Modifieds.
Not only is Industrial Tire Of CNY the title sponsor of the Outlaw Sportsman Shootout 50 they are also putting up heat race bonuses of first – $150, second – $100 and third – $50.
Because of the yearly competition that fills the pits it’s a tough race to win more than once. Coming into this year’s race only Matt Janczuk (2006 and 2013) has gone to victory lane twice.
Here is a list of event winners from Rocky Warner in 2014 back to the first winner Rich Swarthout in 1996. Rocky Warner, Matt Janczuk, Jordan Bennett, Jeremy Pitcher, Dave Marcuccilli, Ryan Susice, Jeremy Wilder, Joe Williams, Matt Janczuk, Russ Hefti, Eldon Payne Jr., Donnie Wetmore, Willy Decker, Jamie Christian, Tim Sears, Jim Spano, Greg Doust, Karl Comfort, Rich Swarthout.
Sportsman Competitor Note – This is a Hoosier Tire Only Event – Hoosier: Hoosier: D300/D400/M45/D50/D60
