Spring Events at the Salmon River Fine Arts Center

Spring is here and the Salmon River Fine Arts Center is opening for 2011 with a flurry of activities.

The Oswego County Student Art Competition & Exhibition in the galleries this month. Over 270 entries created by 7 – 12 grade students are on exhibit and are waiting for you to come in and enjoy them. It is an exceptional show and we congratulate everyone. Gallery hours are: Wednesday through Friday Noon to 4pm and Saturday, 10am to 2pm. Special arrangements and tours may be made by calling 298-7007.
The Salmon River Fine Art Center will be hosting an Open House with Edson Setzer as a guest speaker on Thursday, April 28th at 7:00pm. Jewlery is something we see every day and adds beauty to our daily lives. Mr. Setzer’s topic is JEWELRY AS AN ART FORM. Everyone is invited. This is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Two classes will be offered this month in addition to the usual painting and drawing classes. If you ever wanted to know the secrets of turning a cupcake into art and dazzle your guest, Jan Smith is offering a Cupcake Decorating Class on Saturday April 16th at Noon. The cost of the class is $5. Space is limited and pre-registration is required, to make sure we have adequate supplies. Please call the Fine Arts Center at 298-7007 to make sure you reserve a spot for yourself, friends or family.

And if you still need to decorate some eggs, Jan Tighe will be holding an Egg Decorating Workshop onThursday, April 21st from 3pm until 6pm. You will have the chance to do silk impression or decoupage blown out eggs. Please pre-register by calling 298-7007.
