Spring means buds, blooms and birds at SUNY Oswego’s Rice Creek

OSWEGO – Rice Creek Rambles, free naturalist-led walks, will take place six Saturdays in April and May at SUNY Oswego’s Rice Creek Field Station off Thompson Road, south of State Route 104.

Those preparing to join any of the hikes — April 14, 21 and 28 and May 5, 12 and 19 — should dress for the weather and call 216-6877 the morning of the walk to check trail conditions.

Since program size is limited, the hikes cannot accommodate groups, and an adult must accompany children.

Naturalists at Rice Creek have resumed bird banding this spring, and the field station invites the public to observe birds in hand during the capture, banding and release of resident and migrating songbirds.
