The collection coincided with the Feast of St. Francis, which took place earlier this month.

St. Francis is the Roman Catholic Patron Saint of animals.

“Thanks to everyone who supported this effort,” said Peggy LiVoti, St. Francis Commons Director of Activities. “Many of our families own pets and this collection supports an important organization in our community.”

Items donated to the shelter included food, toys, blankets and pillows.
