CANTON, N.Y. – Samantha Rock’s goal in the 73rd minute proved to be the difference maker, as the Oswego State women’s soccer team (5-9-0) lost 1-0 to St. Lawrence University (7-5-0) Tuesday night.
Both teams were aggressive in the first half. The Lakers took nine shots, while the Saints tallied 12 shots, but were kept off the scoreboard. Bailey Waterbury (Fr., Plattsburgh, N.Y.) took three shots, which was the most for an individual Laker.
The second half began much like the first with both teams trying hard to end the scoreless game. In the 73rd minute of the game, St. Lawrence’s Samantha Rock broke open the game with goal following a pass from Julie Friesen. Oswego State took three more shots before the time expired, but fell short in the end.
Oswego State finished the game with 16 shots compared to 21 shots for St. Lawrence.
Emily Varonier (Sr., Miller Place, N.Y.) ended with eight saves in the loss. Andrea Strauss made ten saves.
The Lakers close out the SUNYAC schedule against Cortland on Saturday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
