Officials at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego and Michaud Residential Health Services in Fulton today announced that tentative contract agreements have been reached with Service Employees International Union (SEIU 1199) Upstate. SEIU 1199 represents service and maintenance employees at the healthcare facilities. St. Luke and Michaud are affiliate organizations.

“We are pleased that the hard work of all parties involved in negotiations has resulted in these tentative agreements,” said Greg Osetek, Director of Community Relations at St. Luke. “The deals that have been crafted still need to be ratified by the union membership at both St. Luke and at Michaud.

The agreements were reached after numerous negotiating sessions over the past four months. St. Luke and Michaud have been involved in ongoing negotiations with 1199 in an effort to finalize a contract for employees in the collective bargaining unit since the previous contract expired on June 30th of this year.

“To continue to deliver quality healthcare that St. Luke and Michaud have come to be known for, we need to be able to operate this organization in a fiscally sound and responsible manner. We believe this agreement allows us to do this in a fair and equitable way,” said Osetek. “Our focus has been, and will remain on providing quality care to our residents.”

Details of the tentative agreement were not available, pending final approval by the St. Luke Health Services/Michaud Board of Directors, and ratification by union members.
