FULTON – Nurses from Michaud Residential Health Services, St. Luke Health Services and Bishop’s Commons will offer their popular community bone density screening on August 2 at the State Street United Methodist Church, 357 State St., from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
The bone density screening is free of charge and open to the public.
The screening test is easy to do and takes only a few minutes to complete. Nurses will be available to discuss the screening results and to answer health-related questions.
No appointment is necessary.
“Our bone density screening program is a great opportunity for you to receive valuable health information free of charge,” said Michaud Nurse Dorothy Reitz, RN.
As a member of the Oswego County Falls Prevention Coalition, information about falls prevention strategies will also be available and nurses will answer any questions about ways to reduce the risk of falls in your home.
“Healthy bone mass is important throughout our lives but more so as we grow older,” Reitz added. “As we age our bones can become more fragile leading to an increased risk of fracture as a result of falls. The information provided by the screening we offer may help you to improve your health and quality of life; especially for those who may be experiencing the onset of osteoporosis.”
