Standard First Aid Class To be Held

     The American Red Cross will hold a Standard First Aid class on Thursday, May 20, from 5:30p.m. – 9:30p.m at the Oswego branch office located at 333 West First Street in Oswego. This class is a great opportunity for any adult who would like to become Standard First Aid certified; whether it is essential for a job, within the family, or around the community.

      Participants will get the chance to learn how to recognize and respond to an emergency, describe the three emergency action steps, identify when and how to call 9-1-1 or the local emergency number and how to move a person from a dangerous scene. Skills and training like being able to identify how to minimize the risk of disease transmission when giving care, how to check an unconscious person for life-threatening and non-life-threatening conditions and knowing how to prioritize care for injuries and sudden illnesses will also be taught. At the end of the course, participants will have gained the knowledge and skills necessary to give care in an emergency, help sustain life and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until medical help arrives.

      Being certified in First Aid is a significant ability to have and can help save a life in any emergency while waiting for further medical help.
