The Oswego Opera Theater’s fourth annual Golf Tournament, held on June 21 at Battle Island State Park in Fulton, was a resounding success. This tournament supports the Opera’s productions, such as the recently seen “Rigoletto – The Oswego Story,” and appearances by Craig Schulman.
The format for the golf tournament was captain and crew, with teams of four players each.
Numerous prizes were awarded, including longest and straightest drives, closest to the pin for men and women and hole-in-one prizes available at all par three holes and others.
Our winners, each deserving of a standing ovation, are Dave Nalle and Tess Gordon for the longest drive; the prizes were a new golf club or a gift certificate to the Midnight Sun in Oswego. John Nekon and Barbara Zukowsky were the winners of shooting closest to the pin. Receiving a Cortini Gift Certificate for best-dressed golfer went to Robert Smith; the best-dressed team was the women’s team, the Butterflies. They received Man in the Moon Chocolates.
The lowest score team was the team from Wayne’s Pharmacy; the women’s lowest score was the Butterflies; the lowest scoring mixed team award went to Bellinger Auto. The highest scoring team was the Swingers and they received gift certificates to Rudy’s on the shore of Lake Ontario.
The board members of Oswego Opera Theater want to thank not only our golfing participants but also the many supporters and businesses in the area who make our productions possible. It is true that there is not a city in this country the size of Oswego New York, which supports a professional opera company.
Everyone involved is deserving of a round of applause if not a standing ovation.
And mark your calendars: the fifth annual Oswego Opera Theater Golf Tournament will be held on June 20, 2015, at the beautiful Battle Island golf course.
See you then and there! And, again, thanks to everyone for your support.
