Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin E. Walsh reported that Air1 assisted police in a multi-county pursuit of a stolen vehicle Tuesday evening.

At about 9 p.m., the Onondaga County 911 Center was advised that the New York State Police were in pursuit of a vehicle on Route 81 North near Preble and heading towards Onondaga County.

The gray pickup truck was stolen from the state of Texas and continued north on Route 81 at a high rate of speed through Cortland and Onondaga County.

Air1 located the suspect vehicle just north of Central Square in Oswego County.

Air1 provided lighting and communication for the pursuing officers allowing them to reduce their speeds.

The driver, and lone occupant of the vehicle, was taken into custody without incident by the New York State Police.
