State Police Arrest Texas Man After Lengthy Pursuit on I-81

Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin E. Walsh reported that Air1 assisted police in a multi-county pursuit of a stolen vehicle Tuesday evening.

At about 9 p.m., the Onondaga County 911 Center was advised that the New York State Police were in pursuit of a vehicle on Route 81 North near Preble and heading towards Onondaga County.

The gray pickup truck was stolen from the state of Texas and continued north on Route 81 at a high rate of speed through Cortland and Onondaga County.

Air1 located the suspect vehicle just north of Central Square in Oswego County.

Air1 provided lighting and communication for the pursuing officers allowing them to reduce their speeds.

The driver attempted to exit Route 81 at the Adams Center exit in Jefferson County; however his vehicle became stuck in the median at the off-ramp.

The driver, and lone occupant of the vehicle, was taken into custody without incident by the New York State Police.

According to New York State Police in Watertown, a Texas man was arrested after a lengthy pursuit on Interstate 81 which began in Cortland County.

State Police in Homer initially attempted to stop Christopher N. Moore of Dallas, Texas, after he was traveling northbound on I-81 at a speed of 83 in a 65 mile per hour zone.

After Moore failed to comply with police shortly before 9 p.m., a police pursuit began, which then continued north on I-81 until it ended in the town of Adams, Jefferson County.
