On May 13, at approximately 9:20 p.m., State Police in Pulaski responded to a call of person with a gunshot wound at a residence, 3510 County Route 22 in the town of Orwell.
When troopers arrived they discovered William A. Willson, 57, from 106 Park Drive in Rome, with a gunshot wound to the buttocks.
Investigation revealed Willson had been shot with bird shot from a 12 gauge shotgun during a verbal argument.
The argument occurred outside a residence at 349 County Route 2 in the town of Redfield with the homeowner 36-year-old Timothy M. Davis, police said.
The investigation determined Willson had discharged 3 rounds from a 9mm handgun into the ground near Davis’ feet during the argument.
Davis then began to retreat back into his residence when Willson continued to follow him onto the front porch.
Davis then retrieved a double barrel shotgun from the house and subsequently shot Willson as he turned to leave the porch, police said.
Davis was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree.
Willson was transported by ambulance to Upstate University Medical Center and was listed in stable condition.
Charges against Willson are pending his release from the hospital.
The investigation is continuing.
