The Annual Stephen G. Thomas Memorial Blood Drive has been scheduled for Thursday, July 21st from 11:30am-3:30pm at the Elks Lodge in Oswego. This blood drive is in memory of Stephen G. Thomas who passed away July 9th 1996 at the young age of six from Leukemia. Stephen’s mom Mary said that after he was diagnosed with Leukemia and receiving treatment, there was never an issue with having blood platelets available to them and they never worried about them running out. During this time they realized exactly how important giving blood was now that their own son needed it. After Stephen’s passing Mary and her husband Bob stated that they felt they needed to do something to make a difference. Their thought was what a better way to honor their son than to sponsor an Annual Memorial Blood Drive which is now in its 13th year. Stephen’s parents Bob and Mary Thomas now live in Fayetteville NY but have always had the blood drive in Oswego because this is where they grew up and where Stephen attended elementary school.
Mark your calendars for Thursday, July 21st from 11:30am-3:30pm at the Oswego Elks Lodge. First time donors are welcomed and encouraged. Please contact Mary or Bob Thomas to set up an appointment at 396-3433 or 637-3559 or call 1-800-Red-Cross.
