HANNIBAL – Eric McElveen, of Sterling Stage, presented Hannibal Dollars for Scholars chapter with a generous donation of $2,000.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the stage management and patrons have funded Hannibal Dollars for Scholars.
The people attending the festival as well as the management contribute to the donation fund which supports scholarships in Hannibal and Red Creek.
Sterling Stage is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary season and 80th festival.
Dollars for Scholars is a subsidiary of Scholarship America.
The Hannibal chapter raises money through various fund raising activities, most notably the annual Ducks over the Dam race, which will be held July 19.
Donations, memorial gifts and bequests are also welcome and are tax deductible.
The money raised is used provide scholarships to graduating seniors from Hannibal High School.
This year a total of sixteen $500 scholarships were awarded.
