Stoughtenger Named Red Cross’s Dunkin Donuts Volunteer of the Month

Mildred Stoughtenger is the American Red Cross of Central New York – Oswego Branch Dunkin Donuts Volunteer of the Month for September.  In 1999 Mildred retired from Nestles inFultonand decided in 2000 to become a Red Cross Blood Services volunteer.  She was initially drawn to the Red Cross when she realized she could not give blood, so in return she decided to help out at the local blood drives. She stated this is her way of helping the Red Cross out. Mildred and her husband Leon also pick up the blood supplies and drive them toRochesterfor drop off.

The most rewarding aspect of working with the Red Cross is just being a part of the organization and meeting many people at each drive.  Mildred’s main focus is each and every donor that attends the blood drives.  “They are the most important people at that time”  Mildred always makes sure she says “Thank You” to every single person who walks in that can or can not give blood.

Mildred would strongly encourage others to take time out of their schedules and volunteer with the Red Cross.  She finds it very rewarding to see so many people willing to help in anyway they can. She states the easiest thing she has ever said was “How can I help you”

Mildred lives inHannibalNYwith her husband Leon. She has 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Mildred and her husband also drive for OCO to deliver Meals on Wheels.

Congratulations to Mildred for being our Dunkin Donuts Volunteer of the Month for September.
