Representatives from each class at Fairgrieve Elementary recently planted six arborvitaes with the assistance of Dan Carroll from Great Lakes Horticulture. The trees were planted outside the front entrance to the school where students and community members can enjoy them for years to come. Carroll offered his help in selecting the plants and provided the trees to the school along with coordinating and directing the tree planting.
A fundraiser held at the beginning of the school year was used to raise the money to purchase the trees. Fairgrieve principal Jean Ciesla explained that planting the trees was a way for the students to give back to the school, the community, and the environment.
Many area charities have also benefited from the fundraisers held at Fairgrieve including: The March of Dimes, Catholic Charities, Fulton mentoring program, local food pantries, Relay for Life and more.
