Rose Ann Myers (r), senior vice-president of the Oswego County Retired Teachers Association presents Bonnie Holmes (l), director of the United Way's Success By 6 Program with a check in the amount of $500 in support of the agency's efforts to help Oswego County children prepare to begin school.

Members of the Oswego County Retired Teachers Association enjoyed an enlightening presentation on the Success By 6 program during their recent fall meeting held at the American Foundry in Oswego.  Director of the Success By 6 program, Bonnie Holmes, who is also a member of the Oswego County Retired Teachers Association, addressed those in attendance and spoke of the initiatives that Success By 6 works on throughout the year including the Summer pre-K Program, Stuff-A-Bus, and the popular Battle of the Books competition.

“They were very impressed with our programs and were interested in learning how they could become involved with Success By 6 and help Oswego County’s youth by supporting our efforts,” said Holmes.  “We welcome their participation and appreciate their support as we work to properly prepare children for the school experience.”

An initiative of the United Way, Success By 6 strives to increase the effectiveness of the community to meet the needs of children up to age six and their families.  By sharing information and exploring new collaborations for service delivery, Success By 6 seeks to mobilize resources to ensure all children are physically, socially, emotionally and behaviorally able to learn when entering school.
