SUNY Canton Students Named to President’s List


CANTON, NY – SUNY Canton recently recognized students who excelled academically during the Fall 2012 semester.

“The college’s deans and I are very proud of these students,” said Interim SUNY Canton President Carli C. Schiffner. “They are demonstrating commitment to their education and it is my great pleasure to congratulate them on their success.”

To receive President’s List honors, full-time students must earn a semester grade point average (GPA) of 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Among the students who earned honors for academics were:

Kayla Gilbert a SUNY Canton Health Science Career Studies major from Bernhards Bay was named to the President’s List. Gilbert is a 2012 graduate of Paul V. Moore High School.

Anita M. Dowling a SUNY Canton Veterinary Technology major from Hannibal was named to the President’s List. Dowling is a 2012 graduate of Hannibal Central School.

Jacob Halsey a SUNY Canton Criminal Investigation major from Lacona was named to the President’s List. Halsey is a 2011 graduate of Sandy Creek Central School.

Devin D. Whalen a SUNY Canton Sports Management major from Minetto was named to the President’s List. Whalen is a 2012 graduate of Oswego High School.

Katherine E. Scharfenberger a SUNY Canton Veterinary Science Technology major from Oswego was named to the President’s List. Scharfenberger is a 2002 graduate of Oswego High School.

Courtney M. Allen a SUNY Canton Veterinary Services Management major from Pulaski was named to the President’s List. Allen is a 2009 graduate of Pulaski Academy and Central School.

Gabriel J. Cootware a SUNY Canton Criminal Justice major from Williamstown was named to the President’s List. Cootware is a 2011 graduate of Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School.

SUNY Canton offers a variety of career-driven bachelor’s degrees in addition to its associate and certificate programs.

In the past year, the college added two new bachelor’s degrees and expanded its facilities with a new athletic center, nicknamed Roos House, and the Grasse River Suites Residence Hall. The college’s faculty members are noted for their professional real-world experience in addition to their academic credentials.
