SUNY Oswego APO members gather after their inaugural Slim Run/Walk for Make-A-Wish in November 2015. This year’s event is scheduled for Oct. 29.

In the spirit of Nickelodeon’s “Slime Time Live,” this second annual, family-friendly event features a competitive 5K run and a non-competitive 5K walk through SUNY Oswego’s scenic campus.

Organizers will have “slime stations” along the route where runners and walkers will receive a squirt gun-style dousing.

The slime component is optional and participants can opt out at the beginning of the event.

In the spirit of Halloween participants are also encouraged to dress in costume.

The run/walk will begin and end at the lower level of the Marano Campus Center (map available at www.oswego.edu) and refreshments will be provided before and after the event.

Prizes will be awarded to top adult (age 15 and over) and top child (age 14 and under) male and female runners.

Registration takes place the morning of the event from 9 to 11:30 a.m and the run/walk will begin at noon.

To register in advance or to start a fundraising page and become eligible for an event T-shirt, go to http://makeawish.kintera.org/APOSlimeRun.

Anyone raising $100 or more will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt.

Make-A-Wish Central New York is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to granting the special wishes of children living with life-threatening medical conditions.

More than just nice gestures, wishes provide the child and family with a bit of respite, and infuse hope, strength and joy into a difficult life experience.

Make-A-Wish is able to continue to share the power of a wish thanks to the generous support of student groups like SUNY Oswego APO, as well as individuals and businesses throughout its 15-county region, which includes Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Otsego, St. Lawrence, Tioga and Tompkins counties.
