OSWEGO – SUNY Oswego’s event planning certificate program aims to help those planning anything from a business project to a holiday party learn to be a more effective and efficient planner who can provide guests with an excellent experience.
This program at the SUNY Oswego Metro Center in downtown Syracuse will provide key strategies for managing event logistics, critical planning techniques for negotiating contracts, tactics for dealing with sponsors and overall insight into the intricacies of event management, organizers said.
“This will be a fun, fast-paced program, and participation by participants will be a key to success,” instructor Bill Motto said. “A lot of people know a little bit about event planning; this program takes them a step further and lets them plan events that impress. Often times it’s the small things that make big impacts. It’s just the edge that a lot of people are looking for.”
The program will consist of two separate two-session courses.
The first course will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 11 and 18. The second will take place during the same time slot Sept. 25 and Oct. 2.
Students who successfully complete both courses will earn a certificate of completion and one Continuing Education Unit.
Participants may take one two-session course for $199 or both for $349.
The first course will provide an overview of event planning and present critical planning, logistics, hospitality, negotiations and contracts.
The second course will focus on risk management, marketing, financing, merchandising, economic impact and charitable events.
