SUNY Oswego Walk-A-Thon Appreciated

I would like to thank SUNY Oswego professor Tina Pieraccini and the students in her Advanced Public Relations class for organizing the 18th Annual SUNY Oswego Walk-A-Thon for the United Way of Greater Oswego County.

The students did a wonderful job of handling all aspects of the event, from publicizing and recruiting walkers and planning the route to registering participants.

Their efforts to involve SUNY Auxiliary Services, who donated funds to help with advertising the event and providing T-shirts to the participants, and Entergy, who had a number of employees participate in the event and provided the United Way with additional funds through a Heart Healthy grant, helped to ensure that the 18th Annual Walk-A-Thon was a success.

I would also like to thank the professors who supported the students’ efforts by offering credit for community service for the students that participated in the Walk-A-Thon.

It was great to see how the students established a successful collaboration between the university, the faculty, community members and the business sector to make the event one of the best ever.

This year’s Walk-A-Thon boasted more than 270 participants and raised approximately $2,300 for the United Way’s Annual Campaign.

Everyone involved with this year’s SUNY Oswego Walk-A-Thon is to be commended for a job well done!

Sincerely,
Lois Luber
