Suspected Driver In Fatal Crash Surrenders

CLAY, NY – Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh reports that the suspected driver involved in a fatal accident surrendered to sheriff’s detectives this evening (Aug. 13).

At about 8:55 Sunday night, a 1998 Audi was traveling southwest on Bonstead Road near the Route 481 overpass in the town of Clay. The vehicle reportedly, operated by Glenwood Carr, 42, of Baldwinsville, drove off of the west side of the road, struck a utility pole and overturned several times prior to coming to rest on its roof.

The passenger of the vehicle, Steven Sears, 40, of Phoenix, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Carr fled on foot from the scene of the accident, deputies said.

He surrendered to sheriff’s detectives at about 5:10 p.m. Tuesday at the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters building.

Carr is charged with the felony of Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is still investigating the incident and will
confer with the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office regarding additional charges.

Carr was arraigned in the Town of  Clay Court at 6 his evening and lodged in the Justice Center.

Judge Laurie set “no bail.”
