OSWEGO – The Syracuse Silver Knights will be honorary members of Oswego Health’s Sun Patrol and health ambassadors during the organization’s Harborfest activities.
Oswego Health, which co-sponsors the annual Harborfest Children’s Parade, has invited the Silver Knights to walk in the parade to promote healthy habits and good nutrition.
The parade will begin at 9:45 a.m. in West Park and ends Breitbeck Park.
The pre-parade activities begin at 9 a.m.
During the children’s parade, members of the Oswego Health Sun Patrol hand out small packets of sunscreen. This initiative was undertaken after staff from Oswego Hospital’s emergency room noted that many young children were seeking treatment for severe sunburn during Harborfest.
Once the parade ends at Breitbeck Park, Oswego Health has arranged for the Silver Knights to hold several soccer drills where children and youths can test their skills.
The skill sessions will be held near the park’s baseball fields.
The Syracuse Silver Knights, a professional soccer team, completed its inaugural season in March.
The Knights, whose home games are played in the Onondaga County War Memorial, are part of the Major Indoor Soccer League.
The MISL-style indoor soccer is a high-powered, fast-paced game.
The Knights will begin their second season later this fall.
