The Lakeside exhibition provides an annual showcase for new and exciting artwork from across New York State. It provides a display of diverse subjects and artistic styles for area residents to enjoy.
Faculty and students have donated work in a variety of media for the fundraiser for student groups Arts Alive!, Break Thru Design and Student Art Exhibition Committee.
Sama Alshaibi, an artist of Iraqi/Palestinian descent, will speak at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, in the auditorium of SUNY Oswego’s Campus Center, Room 118. Her presentation about her work will be open to the public free of charge.
“This annual show is varied and inclusive as it is open to any student at Oswego and any artistic media and is therefore also very popular with audiences,” said Michael Flanagan, assistant director of Tyler Art Gallery.
The scrolls come from the personal collection of Dr. Geraldine Forbes, a distinguished teaching professor of history at SUNY Oswego and a renowned scholar on India. Forbes will give a gallery talk at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 29. The event is part of the welcoming reception, free and open to the public, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The H. Lee White Marine Museum, which is located at the end of Oswego’s West First Street Pier, is the place to be this month as they once again present “December Excitement.†Hours of operation are 1-5pm daily until the 23rd, and the Museum’s ‘Treasure Chest†gift shop is open to browse for free during those hours.
