This show is open until November 21. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Friday from Noon to 4 PM and Saturday, 10 AM to 2 PM. It is open to the public and free of charge.
Opening in the Timothy McHenry Gallery on the Art Center’s second floor will be Willful Eclecticism, an invitational exhibition of CNY artists whose work embodies a Postmodern approach. Opening concurrently in the Jo Hyse Gallery on the first floor of the Arts Center will be a new exhibition of artwork by the members of Hat Factory, a local art collective of emerging artists whose work is diverse and cutting-edge.
Gant has worked with photography, video, digital media and installations for more than 25 years. “While installation continues to be my primary passion, it is a type of work that limits the amount of work I can produce to practical logistics such as availability of space and my ability to fund my work,†she explained.
Titled “Bartow + Metzgar: Spatio Geographica: An Experimental Archive of Human and Nonhuman Agents in North America,” the exhibition finds Richard Metzgar of Oswego’s art faculty and Oswego graduate Paul Bartow exploring what composes the collective of the human and nonhuman.
The Art Association of Oswego announces the opening of two new exhibitions on Saturday, August 22 at the Oswego Civic Arts Center. Opening in the Timothy McHenry gallery on the Art Center’s second floor will be Travels in Silver, an exhibition of traditional silver-based photography by two Central New York photographers, Peter Mahan and Yolanda Tooley. This exhibition will showcase memorable images culled from their travels, presented in black and white.
The Art Association of Oswego announces two upcoming art classes. Introduction to Printmaking will be offered on Monday and Wednesday, July 20th and 22nd, from 6-9 pm. This class will focus on making Monotypes–one of the simplest yet most expressive methods of printmaking. Participants will also learn the basics of using a Dickerson combination press.
Learn basic painting techniques in color, line, value, texture and laying down of color, learn about different types of brushes and what effect they are used for; how to select and mix paints to get the colors you want, paint mixing techniques; paint application and composition will be stressed.
