New Law Cracks Down on DWI Offenders

New York recently took another important step toward tougher penalties for DWI offenders. Leandra’s Law was signed by the Governor last week. Leandra’s Law makes driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol with a child a felony. The law also makes New York one of a dozen states to require all convicted drunken drivers use an ignition interlock device, which prevents them from driving their car if they are drunk.

Veterans Day Reminds Us Importance of Right to Vote

Last week we cast our vote. In a non-presidential election, voter turnout is historically lower, however, no less important. It’s here that we decide who will represent us to decide how taxpayer dollars are spent and determine public policy. To be able to vote in an election is a right our forefathers fought for and is just one more reason we should be mindful and appreciative of our veterans this week.

Barclay Sponsors Tax Credit Bill for Hearing Impaired

“Many New Yorkers can not afford hearing aids even though hearing loss can be treated with hearing aids”, said Barclay. “With the average cost of hearing aids as high as $1,400 each, this bill lowers that expense substantially, and makes hearing aids more accessible.”
