Oswego Council Tweaks, OKs 2019 Budget

After a handful of small tweaks, the Common Council unanimously approved the 2019 spending plan for the Port City.  The budget contains the first reduction in city property taxes for city residents in 20 years. Mayor Billy Barlow’s budget proposal reduced the general tax rate from $15.67 per thousand dollars of assessed value in 2018 to $15.33 in 2019. The council’s reductions trimmed it to $15.28. Mayor Barlow Announces Opening of Oswego Pet Pantry

The city of Oswego Pet Pantry is a donation-driven pantry designed to provide assistance to qualified pet owners with supplying the proper food and necessities for their pet during difficult financial times. The Oswego Pet Pantry will accept donated food and supplies from the public and make those goods accessible to those who own pets but may have trouble supplying the adequate needs for their animals.

Open For Debate – Oswego Mayoral Candidates To Square Off In September

Amy Tresidder, the Democratic candidate for mayor of Oswego, is eager to debate her Republican opponent. Tresidder, currently a county legislator and a city resident for more than 30 years, said today (Aug. 19) that she’s challenged 24-year-old city councilman Billy Barlow to a moderated debate to be held in September. Barlow’s response was, “anywhere, anytime.”
