Just one day before Earth Day, volunteers gathered in downtown Fulton to help collect trash and beautify the area as Friends of Fulton Parks participated in the annual Canal Clean Sweep with their Sparkle-A-Park cleanup. One group of volunteers collected litter from along the Oswego River on the city’s Towpath Trail while another group worked to beautify Veterans Park on South First Street including the area between the downtown gazebo and the Fulton Public Library.
Friends of Fulton Parks announces participation in the 13th annual Canal Clean Sweep on April 21.As part of this multi-community celebration, Friends of Fulton Parks will host the first of its annual Earth Month Sparkle-a-Park cleanups at Veterans’ Park and Towpath Trail, on April 21 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Roughly 30 volunteers came together to work with Friends of Fulton Parks to honor Earth Day (April 22) by cleaning the area along the Oswego River and Fulton’s Veterans Park. As part of the Parks & Trails NY and NYS Canal Corporation’s volunteer event, Canal Clean Sweep, Friends of Fulton Parks organized a local Canal Clean Sweep for the city of Fulton, the fourth year participating. “I’m just proud to be a part of this community where people come together for things like this,” said FoFP founder, Kelley Weaver. Volunteers of all ages cleaned the Canal Landing Marina in Fulton along the Oswego River from the downtown gazebo to the public library.
