Sunbathing without protection from the sun's rays can lead to skin  cancer.“Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States,” said Dr. Dennis Norfleet, Oswego County Public Health Director. “Long-term, unprotected exposure to the sun’s rays, even on cloudy days, causes up to 90 percent of all skin cancer.”

Student athletes took on coaches in a series of sports competitions Thursday night in Fulton in which the only loser was cancer.

The event raised money for the Golisano Children’s Hospital at University Hospital in Syracuse, but its real purpose was to recognize the damage cancer has done to young people and to wrap the community’s arms around one of its best-known families.

Nuclear Regulators Ask For Scientific Study of Cancer Rates Near Nuke Plants

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has asked the National Academy of Sciences to update its first study on the risk of cancer for people who live near nuclear power plants.

The updated study would look at cancer rates around the Nine Mile Point nuclear plants, as well as cancer rates at every other nuclear facility in the country.
