October is Head Start Awareness Month

Head Start was created in 1965 by President Lyndon Johnson as an eight week summer program for young children of low-income families. Over the years it has undergone many changes. It is now a year-long preschool program that provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to children and their families.

Pair Allegedly Forcibly Injected Children With Insulin

Members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Howard E. Kriese, 32, of 302 N. Center St., East Syracuse, and Korena R. Thompson, 34, of 956 Middle Road, Lot 5, Oswego, charging both with two counts each of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, a class D felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor.

<p>Local entertainer and musician, Larry Rapshaw, pictured, will provide the entertainment at the Oswego Farmers' Market on Thursday. The evening will feature a special Children’s Costume Parade.</p>

The Oswego Farmers’ Market continues Thursday with a special Halloween treat. Area children and their parents can celebrate Halloween a little early this year by participating in the Children’s Costume Parade beginning at 6 p.m. at the market in downtown Oswego.
