Oswego Town and the city of Oswego have differing views concerning the ambulance contract between the two municipalities. In a statement today (Dec. 23) to the media, the town board said the contract is intact through Dec. 31, 2012. However, the mayor points out the town supervisor sent a letter to the city giving official notification that they wanted to cancel the contract. He says it will expire Dec. 31, 2010.
A body has reportedly been found at the fire scene. The victim has been tentatively identified as Robert P. Rose, age 25, of Apartment B, 6 Beech Drive.
Mentor Ambulance has made a proposal to the town board to provide ambulance coverage from the sub station they are looking to purchase on County Route 7/Byer Road. Their proposal reportedly is at no cost to the town.
The Town of Oswego wants to cancel its existing ambulance services contract with the city. It would like to replace it with a monthly contract. The Administrative Services Committee rejected the proposal at its meeting Monday night.
The Port City’s lime-stabilized sludge is causing excessive ammonia levels in the leachate at the Bristol Hill Landfill. And, the county has indicated it might not continue to accept the city’s sludge in 2011 unless it finds a way to remedy the situation
Judi Knopp of Human Concerns accepted a generous donation from the Oswego City School District CSEA organization.
The city and county are on the verge of swapping sewage sludge and leachate as part of an intermunicipal agreement that will be beneficial to both entities. The deal is pending confirmation by the Common Council and Oswego County Legislature
The Common Council voted 5 to 2 Wednesday afternoon to move ahead with plans to acquire the International Marina from the Port of Oswego Authority. The price tag is $2.1 million.
About a dozen people turned out Thursday night for a town hall meeting with city officials. Topics ranged from the city’s plans to purchase the International Marina to the behavior of college students (and others) to snow removal. The meeting was productive, one councilor said. Things are headed in the right direction, she said. But change doesn’t happen overnight, she added.
As the weather starts turning colder, dozens of cats and dogs are seeking a warm, loving ‘forever home.’ The Oswego Animal Shelter needs your help in finding homes for about 60 cats and 16 dogs. The Oswego County Humane Society has about 80 cats and 10 dogs in foster homes right now.
