If passed, Local Law #2 of 2010 would amend Chapter 63, Animals, of the Code of the City of Oswego. According to a proposed resolution prepared by the New York Conference of Mayors: A property tax cap without repeal of costly state mandates will, by definition, lead to drastic cuts in essential local services and dramatic layoffs of municipal employees. They urge state leaders to reform the costs drivers that lead to higher property taxes in New York – including pension benefits, health insurance costs and the collective bargaining process.
The Common Council authorized the mayor to execute an Order of Consent/Stipulation with the NYS Department of Conservation. The Administrative Services Committee breezed through a light agenda Monday evening.

The amendments should make it easier for those who have trouble keeping their sidewalks clear, especially in areas where plows go by frequently and throw snow and ice back on the sidewalks, proponents said. The ordinance will take effect after approval by the mayor and 10 days after official publication.
The Oswego Fire Department will get its overtime funding. Just not all at once. At meeting Monday night’s Common Council meeting, aldermen voted 6-1 to approve an amended version of a resolution authorizing Fire Chief Jeff McCrobie to make a budget amendment of $110,000 to cover the short shift overtime. Councilor Bill Sharkey cast the lone nay vote.
