For minimal cost, interested persons can gain access to a wealth of information on disability issues through ARC of Oswego County, the New York State ARC, and The Arc of the United States. Memberships also help support the nonprofit’s crucial work with children, adults, and seniors with disabilities all over Oswego County.
The Social-Recreation program includes many sports teams, hobby and interest groups, and regular dances.
ARC of Oswego County offers a basketball league as part of its Social-Recreation Program for adults with disabilities. This year, the league has divided up into teams.

Business is about to boom at Oswego Industries, and it couldn’t be happening at a better time.
Oswego Industries had to cut down its payroll as work evaporated. Some people with disabilities stopped coming; others kept working but without pay. “There are a lot of people on our floor who haven’t had work in longer than we’d like,” Crowley said.

Stability Fitness in Oswego hosted a “Giving Tree” this holiday season for ARC of Oswego County. Service coordinators from ARC chose several families they work with who needed assistance with Christmas gifts, and decorated a tree with tags for each family member, and a suggested gift.
ARC of Oswego County announced that it has received a $2,500 CVS Caremark Community Grant. The grant will be used to support Early Intervention programs for children and toddlers experiencing developmental concerns.
One of the groups in the LIFE program at Oswego Industries, Inc. has been trying their hand — and foot — at karate classes. The small group has been taking classes for a few weeks at LaVallee’s USA Black Belt Champions, practicing not only martial arts moves but also techniques for avoiding confrontations.
