In these rough economic times, public libraries are becoming even more important, and the Pulaski Public Library is no exception.

The library offers many services, including free wireless access. It is also a member of the North Country Library System, and patrons can request books from the system’s 64 libraries in person or online.

Fulton Savings Will Close River Glen Mall Branch, The Latest To Leave

<p>The Fulton Savings Bank branch at River Glen Mall, which will close in mid-December.</p>

Yet another business is pulling out of the half-empty River Glen Mall.

Fulton Savings Bank will close its 15-year-old branch at the Route 481 shopping center on December 18.  No employees will lose their jobs, according to the bank’s CEO, Mike Pollock.  The bank’s lease expires not long after the closing.

A Small Move Brings Big Business Changes To Fulton’s Uniforms, Etc.

Uniforms, Etc. of Fulton outgrew its home on S. 1st St.  This Spring, the business moved about 300 feet away, to the corner of Cayuga St. and S. 2nd St.  Now, you know S. 2nd St. better as Route 481, the main route through the city.  The difference in visibility made a massive difference to Uniforms Etc.’s bottom line — an immediate jump in business.  “People were reminded that we existed because of the move,” the company’s marketing manager says.

McHugh Asks US Attorney General to Conduct Criminal Investigation of Financial Industry

Congressman John M. McHugh (NY-Pierrepont Manor) called on United States Attorney General Michael Mukasey to conduct an investigation of any financial institution, corporation, or individual that is suspected of criminal action relating to our current financial crisis.  The Congressman signed a bipartisan letter with 30 other Members of Congress calling for the Attorney General to conduct a criminal investigation and involve the financial crimes units of other federal agencies to assist in his investigation.

UniStar Nuclear Energy Submits License Application to NRC for Potential Third Nuclear Reactor at Nine Mile Point

The next step was taken Wednesday to bring a fourth nuclear plant to Oswego County.  Unistar Nuclear Energy filed papers with the federal government to apply for a license to build and operate a reactor on the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station campus in Scriba.  Unistar still hasn’t decided whether it wants to build the next reactor in Scriba or in Maryland, but the license application is a necessary step forward.
