Quarterly Siren Tests Scheduled for Nov. 2 – 6 in Oswego County

The Oswego County Emergency Management Office announces that the system of emergency notification sirens surrounding the three nuclear power plants at Nine Mile Point will be tested during the week of Nov. 2 through 6. Each of the 37 individual sirens will be tested between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. between Monday, Nov. 2, and Thursday, Nov. 5.

Oswego County Conducts ‘Successful’ Federal Exercise Of Nuclear Plan

A federally-evaluated exercise of Oswego County’s Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program “was very successful,” said Rebecca Thomson of Federal Emergency Management Agency Region II‘s Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program. Thomson announced the preliminary findings of the evaluation during a public meeting Sept. 25 at the Oswego County Joint Information Center.

As in the past a variety of communication venues will be used in the event that school is closed or delayed. The district desires to make a decision to close or delay by 5:30 a.m. and as always this message will be delivered through the numerous communications outlets. This year the district communication between school and home has been enhanced with the addition of School Messenger.

Boil Water Order Issued In Fulton

UPDATED: The City of Fulton has issued a Boil Water order effective immediately, through at least Tuesday.  Under the advisory, residents on the city’s water system are asked not to drink water from the tap. Rather, any tap water used for cooking, drinking, washing dishes, brushing teeth or making ice should first be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before it is used.
