APW Students Participate in Earth Day Cleanup in Their Community

Students at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School spent several hours working to clean up nearby Riverside Cemetery in Altmar recently in recognition of Earth Day and as part of the community service component of their Social Studies 12 – Economics and Participation in Government class taught by Steve Prusack.  Students in the class included: Scarlett White, Dan Smith, Benji Clark, Liberty Tanner, Hannah Flanagan, Britt Kimber, Zach Matthie, Brien Disbro, Alysia Schreyer, Erica Guenthner, Tricia Thorp, Taylor Britton, Britt Sikora, Don Sanderson, Nate Graham and Tyler Weaver. The annual clean up has been a part of community service at the school since shortly after the first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970. Earth Week Promises Joy, Work, Exhibitions, Debates at SUNY Oswego

The campus will fill with interesting season seasonal scenes: Electric and fuel cell vehicles purring along campus streets. Students dressed all in white chasing each other with powdered pigments. Athletes running on bright green grass maintained with sustainable methods. It’s about fun, teamwork, innovation — and shared concern for a planet whose troubles include pollution, toxins and climate change.

Informational Meeting on the State Outdoor Burning Regulations and Agriculture

New York State recently passed a law that now prohibits outdoor burning. In an effort to educate people on what this means for the agriculture community of Oswego County, there will be a meeting at the Mexico VFW building on Scenic Ave/St Rt 3 on Wednesday, March 31st from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.
