OFD Seeks To Keep Fire Hydrants Clear
Members of the Oswego Fire Department Firefighter Chris Stupp and Firefighter Gary Clark were shoveling out fire hydrants on Tuesday.
The commissioners of the Oswego Town Fire District would like to address some of the possible concerns of our residents in light of recently published articles regarding the Town of Oswego ambulance service. First and foremost we want to assure the residents that the Town of Oswego Volunteer Fire Department will continue to provide our community with first response EMS service.
UPDATED: – – One of the victims has died.
Four people were rescued after being swept away by fast-moving high water in the Oswego River earlier this afternoon. Two of the victims were pulled out of the water near the Bridge Street Bridge. The other two were rescued behind the former Coleman’s restaurant.
The Oswego Fire Department will get its overtime funding. Just not all at once. At meeting Monday night’s Common Council meeting, aldermen voted 6-1 to approve an amended version of a resolution authorizing Fire Chief Jeff McCrobie to make a budget amendment of $110,000 to cover the short shift overtime. Councilor Bill Sharkey cast the lone nay vote.
BREAKING NEWS: The New York State Department of Health Bureau of Emergency Medical Services has concluded its investigation of the Oswego Fire Department involving incidents which occurred in 2009. As a result, the city has been fined $10,000 fine for the violations.
