The Oswego Common Council next week will consider a request for an ambulance at OHS varsity football games and budget transfers to cover overtime in the fire department and DPW. They will also approve creating a new city street and naming it after a long-time city employee.
The fire department was notified in a letter dated June 29, that they were found to be in violations of section 3031 of the Public Health Law and a regulation addressing documentation requirements for advanced life support systems. A plan of correction was to be submitted by no later than July 22, and in fact was submitted and accepted by that date.
The New York State Department of Health has sent letters of reprimand to 39 members of the Oswego Fire Department. The action is a result of the state’s probe of the department’s ambulance service.
Children in the CYO Summer Recreation Program were recently treated to a special presentation from members of the Fulton Fire Department.
The Oswego Fire Department will be conducting hydrant testing throughout the city during the next few months.
The city of Oswego Fire Department is offering the following upcoming EMS training courses: AÂ Basic EMT course will begin on Sept. 11. An Advanced EMT-Critical Care Course will begin on Aug. 31.
A volunteer firefighter in Phoenix has been arrested and accused of stealing cans of gasoline from the fire department.
Matthew J. Fratello, 25, of 22 Maplehurst Dr., Phoenix was charged by Phoenix village police with two misdemeanors: petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. He was released on an appearance ticket and has resigned from the fire department.
