Volney Home Destroyed By Fire
There’s no word yet on what caused a house fire in Volney Wednesday.
The home at 1508 County Route 57 was destroyed by fire late in the afternoon. The one-family home is owned by Sandra Audas, according to the county’s online property tax database.
No injuries were reported. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Fire Training Center Close To Winter Shut-Down
The Oswego County fire training school is up and running, helping firefighters prepare for the experiences they will meet in the field. Fire Coordinator John Hinds says the county is preparing for the winter shut down and looking forward to the spring, when it will resume its efforts to work out the bugs at the facility and welcome new groups of students.

Crews Investigate Cause of House Fire in Volney
Investigators with the county’s Cause and Origin Team are on the scene this morning of a house fire that started Monday evening at 492 Rowlee Road in the town of Volney. The one-story structure, which was unoccupied at the time, was a total loss.

Fire Damages West Side Home
The fire did extensive damage to the kitchen area of the West Cayuga Street residence. No one was home and no injuries were reported. The probable cause is an electrical problem in the kitchen area, fire officials said.

Committee Revisits Fire Department’s Vehicle Request
The Administrative Services Committee recommends approving the sale of an old OFD vehicle. If there is enough funds to purchase a new vehicle after that, the council will consider that possibility in the future.
