As the holiday break approached second graders at the Fitzhugh Park Elementary School enjoyed a day to “cuddle up and read.”

Students donated a quarter to the “Habitat for Humanity” project and as a result received the opportunity to wear pajamas in school on the final day before the holiday recess.

Reading during the summer months is invaluable for youngsters. With that as a major concern, Fitzhugh Park Elementary School Principal Donna Simmons sought to initiate a summer literacy program for students in her school.

Five Fitzhugh Park Elementary School students are going to have an unforgettable summer experience. Justin Thomas, Brett Collins, Jeremy Ruotolo, Mariah Morley and Kyle Maitland have departed from the Syracuse airport and headed to Camp Kentahten in Campbellsville, Kentucky.
