FFD Provides Naloxone Training Opportunities in Fulton

Members of the greater Fulton community will have two opportunities to obtain a Naloxone rescue kit after completion of a training class administered by Fulton Fire Department Lieutenant Adam Howard and the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASIS.) Naloxone, more commonly referred to as Narcan, is an opioid antagonist used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Howard and members of OASIS will offer a two-hour training on Monday March 5 and Tuesday March 6 each beginning at 7 p.m. in the Community Room at the Fulton Municipal Building located at 141 South First Street.

Fulton Fire Department Honors Two Fallen Firefighters

Just over 100 years after their line of duty deaths, Fulton Fire Chief David Eiffe honored two of Fulton’s fallen firefighters, Floyd L. Adel and Leon J. Hammond. Today, Eiffe strives to remember all four of Fulton’s former firefighters whose names are on the NYS Fallen Firefighters Memorial Wall in Albany that lost their lives in service at some point in the department’s 115 years of service. Fulton Fire Department lost firefighters Adel and Hammond almost exactly one year apart, a rough year in department history, Chief Eiffe said. As both line of duty death anniversaries approached, Chief Eiffe and the Fulton Fire Department organized a remembrance ceremony to be held in their honor.

Fulton Fire Swears in New Firefighters, Unveils New Fire Engine to Senator Ritchie

Last week, five new hires and two newly promoted Lieutenants were sworn into their positions with the Fulton Fire Department at a ceremony led by the Honorable Judge David Hawthorne. Last week, five new hires and two newly promoted Lieutenants were sworn into their positions with the Fulton Fire Department at a ceremony led by the Honorable Judge David Hawthorne. The following day, Chief Eiffe and Assistant Chief Shane Laws met with NYS Senator Patty Ritchie to unveil the new fire engine that was purchased through funds Senator Ritchie made available for the department.

Fulton Fire, Police Gather at McDonald’s Public Safety Appreciation Day

The Fulton McDonald’s brought together local law enforcement for a public safety appreciation day on Saturday, October 14. Members of the Fulton Fire Department and Fulton Police Department joined B104.7 radio hosts, Ronald McDonald, and Hamburglar to interact with local families. Kids were able to answer fire safety questions with FFD firefighters to receive a bag full of information and items to encourage fire safety practices at home and take a turn sitting in the driver seat of a fire engine. Fulton police officers answered questions, handed out information and treats for kids, and allowed an inside look at patrol cars.
