Fulton Footpaths Applies for Construction Grant

Fulton Footpaths, the volunteer committee working to create a system of multi-use heritage trails throughout the city of Fulton, has applied for a state-funded grant for the first phase of trail construction. Submitted to the NYS Department of State, the application for funding is to cover costs derived from a feasibility study to construct two out of eight total trails. The grant would fund up to $900,000 for construction work- a monetary value figured from a feasibility study completed by Syracuse-based Environmental Design and Research (EDR) that was secured through prior grant funding. Fulton Seeks State Designation For Oswego River and Lake Neatahwanta

A local resolution has requested the addition of Lake Neatahwanta and the Oswego River to NYS Department of State’s listing of Coastal Waterways and Designated Inland Waterways. The resolution, unanimously passed through the Fulton Common Council, is the first step to receiving the state designation. If approved, Fulton’s waterfronts will join a listing of eleven Coastal Waterways and more than 120 Designated Inland Waterways.

Fulton Receives Grant for Footpaths, A First Step Toward Bigger Picture for City

The city of Fulton was one of many Oswego County municipalities that benefited from New York State Regional Economic Development Council grant money awarded Dec 8. In the city of Fulton, $61,500 was awarded for a feasibility study to determine the cost of developing eight recreational trails throughout the city of Fulton as envisioned by the volunteer group, Fulton Footpaths. However, the feasibility study and eventual construction of the trials are largely dependent on the approval of an updated Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) which a committee of city officials and volunteers have readily been working on.

Canalview Bridge Walk Highlights New Signs, Promotes Physical Activity

More than 90 people showed up to the Canalview Bridge Walk event with at least 60 of those people walking the 1.8-mile trail across Fulton’s bridges and through some of the city’s historic downtown area. A collaboration between Oswego County Opportunities, Fulton Footpaths and the city of Fulton, the event allowed the public to walk the Canalview Bridge trail showcasing new permanent signs marking the paved trail.

Fulton Footpaths Collaborates with Local History Experts

Fulton Footpaths, a plan in the works to bring eight heritage trails to the city of Fulton has recently met with a group of local history experts at the Pratt House Museum to gather input on history of the city to be incorporated in the trails. Organized by Brittney Jerred and Marie Mankiewicz, two Fulton residents who are looking to help revitalize the city, Fulton Footpaths is in the very early stages of conception with much planning ahead.
