Youth, Veterans, Fire Department Work Together To Place Graveside Flags For Veterans

For the fourth year, the Fulton boys’ lacrosse team paired with the Fulton American Legion to place flags on the graves of all buried veterans resting at Mount Adnah and St. Mary’s cemeteries. Put together along with the cooperation and guidance of the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc. and Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, the group has grown to incorporate more volunteers. This year, the Fulton Fire Department volunteered its time as several firefighters participated to help honor the heroes that have made the ultimate sacrifice. For the youth, veterans, firemen, all individuals who participated, the consensus was clear: it’s an honor.

Fulton Based Contractor to Continue Work on Former Nestles Site

City officials accepted a bid from Rowlee Construction, Inc. yesterday (May 18) at a special meeting of the Common Council relative to the remaining asbestos and demolition removal at the former Nestles site. Specifically, the Fulton based construction company will remove the debris left on the 2.2 acre parcel of the former Nestles site that is designated for supermarket chain, Aldi.

Fulton District Officials Announce 2017 Election Results

The Fulton City School District held a special meeting tonight (May 17) to announce the 2017 election results.

After Fulton voters took to one polling place for the first time, all casting their votes at the Fulton War Memorial on Tuesday, May 16, the votes have been tallied and the results have been determined. Due to a circumstance in which only two candidates ran for three vacant seats on the board of education, district officials were delayed in their announcement after seeking guidance from district attornies, Superintendent Brian Pulvino said.

ALDI Confirms Fulton Store Will Prevail Despite Contractor Abandoning Demolition

A representative of the global supermarket chain, Aldi, has confirmed that the impending store location in Fulton will prevail despite the city’s demolition contractor backing out of the commitment to demolish the former Nestles site in its entirety. “We will still pursue the Fulton, NY location with plans for a grand opening in late fall,” said Aldi representative Aaron Sumida, Tully Division Vice President.

Rain, Cold Doesn’t Halt Fulton Little League Opening 15th Season

A chilly opening day and a rainy first week hasn’t halted the kickoff of the 2017 Little League baseball and softball season in Fulton. Players from all divisions gathered together last weekend to officially begin the season with help from league officials and the Syracuse Chiefs minor league baseball team mascot, Scooch. Roughly 280 participants from 23 teams ranging in age from 4 to 12 years old lined the first and third baselines of John Florek Field as Fulton Little League’s vice president, Dave Weber and president, Florek introduced the 15th season of Little League in Fulton.

Oneida Street Bridge Rehabilitation Expected to Begin In May

The Oneida Street bridge over the Oswego River in Fulton is expected to see a rehabilitation period beginning at the end of May, according to city officials. The Fulton Common Council unanimously accepted a bid on Tuesday (April 25) of $1,888,597.95 from Vector Construction Corporation to complete the project, the lowest bid received out of four. At the same time, the council also advertised to accept bids for the rehabilitation of the North Sixth Street bridge over CSX in Fulton, located between Kimball Avenue and Clark Street.

Friends of Fulton Parks Honors Earth Day with Canal Clean Sweep

Roughly 30 volunteers came together to work with Friends of Fulton Parks to honor Earth Day (April 22) by cleaning the area along the Oswego River and Fulton’s Veterans Park. As part of the Parks & Trails NY and NYS Canal Corporation’s volunteer event, Canal Clean Sweep, Friends of Fulton Parks organized a local Canal Clean Sweep for the city of Fulton, the fourth year participating. “I’m just proud to be a part of this community where people come together for things like this,” said FoFP founder, Kelley Weaver. Volunteers of all ages cleaned the Canal Landing Marina in Fulton along the Oswego River from the downtown gazebo to the public library.
