The Fulton community came together to honor the life of 39-year-old Amber Neivel after her body was discovered in the Oswego River on Sunday, April 9. Neivel’s two children, father, sister, and several relatives were showered with support from loved ones and strangers alike offering words of comfort and sorrow as the community hosted a candlelight vigil in her honor.
Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I – Pulaski) sat with a room full of constituents on Wednesday (April 19) to field any questions and address any concerns as part of the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce “Meet the Officials” roundtable series.

The third year of Fulton Youth Basketball’s spring clinic brought an impressive roster of Fulton native basketball success stories to share their knowledge of the sport with today’s dedicated young players. This year, the clinic offered two hometown basketball experts to speak to the group and host a shooting clinic. Robin VanSchneider, the all-time leading scorer for women’s varsity basketball in Fulton and Kevin Broderick, current Nazareth College men’s basketball coach and former record setting coach at SUNY Oswego spread their expertise among the eager players.
If you’ve been traveling around the city of Fulton lately, you may have noticed a few changes. While the former building that housed Family Video is under construction, it has been confirmed that Auto Zone will be moving in. Family Video has relocated to 165 S. Second St.

Char and Rob Zenter had the vision to host a fun Easter event for the Fulton community. Their vision is becoming a reality on Saturday, April 15. The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday (April 15) at VanBuren Park, located on VanBuren and North Sixth Street.
“Local businesses have taken the Fulton Block Builders over their fundraising goal! Kenwell Corporation, Mimi’s Diner, Eastern Shore Associates, Patterson Warehousing, and Bellinger Auto Sales & Service have all donated to the Fulton Block Builders, collectively putting FBB over our goal,” said Linda Eagan, FBB Administrative Director. Realizing the goal meant matching a $100,000 commitment from the Richard S. Shineman Foundation to jump start the grassroots organization in its first year.
The Family Video movie rental store in Fulton has used spare change to raise more than $800 for Lymphoma research. As part of the annual “Round-It-Up” campaign, Family Video customers were offered the opportunity to donate the change of every purchase, rounded to the nearest dollar, to the Lymphoma Research Foundation and the Bio Bank at the University of Chicago.
For the first time in eight years the Oswego County Legislative body received a pay increase, but rather than keep this for himself, Legislator Karasek decided to donate his entire raise to the Fulton Block Builders (FBB.)
