UPDATE: District Responds To Threat At G. Ray Bodley High School, Search Yields No Findings

Superintendent of Schools for the Fulton City School District, Brian Pulvino issued an important notice to all parents of students within the district regarding an incident at one of the schools this morning (March 9.) “G. Ray Bodley High School administration was informed by a student at 8:15 a.m. this morning that another student at GRB made an alleged threatening statement about initiating harm to others at the school,” the letter detailed.

Fulton Board of Education Petitions Now Available

As of today, (March 6) petitions are available for three open seats on the Fulton City School District Board of Education. The three open terms will commence July 1, 2017 and expire on June 30, 2020. Petitions are available at the office of the Superintendent at the Fulton Education Center located at 167 S. Fourth St. and must be returned to be filed with the district clerk between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. no later than April 26.

Fulton School District Boasts 7% Increase in Graduation Rate

A presentation to the Board of Education surrounding graduation rates within Fulton City School District shows a 7% increase from last school year. Of the cohort of students that entered the high school in the year 2012, 76% of FCSD students graduated in June 2016 with a Local, Regents or Regents with Advanced Distinction diploma after four years.

The inevitable setbacks and hardships he faced through a challenging recovery still didn’t stop him. As it seems, nothing can stop Tim Conners from “redefining possible.” Surviving cancer was the first obstacle, but Conners’ story is much more than his fight for survival. In fact, that is where his story just begins, he said. MounTimPossible, this Fulton native’s ambitious plan to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro to the highest point on the African continent will simultaneously raise money for four organizations that Conners feels saved his life.

North Bay Campers Speak Out Against Rate Increase

Many seasonal campers at Fulton’s North Bay Campground were outraged to learn that the Common Council had increased the season rate for the 2017 season. Last month, the council implemented a variety of new and increased rates including the seasonal site rate increase from $675 to $850. Some routine seasonal campers approached the Common Council at a regular meeting held Tuesday (Feb 7) to express their distaste in the rate changes.

Nestles Update: ALDI Rep Says Construction To Begin This Spring

Demolition remains ongoing at the former Nestles property in Fulton, specifically targeting the more than two-acre corner lot promised to global supermarket chain, ALDI. Fulton Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. said that Aldi is still interested in the site and demolition remains ongoing through the winter to the best that weather conditions allow. An Aldi representative recently confirmed this information to Oswego County Today.
