City and County of Oswego Recognize September as Literacy Month

LVOC is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a special dinner featuring author of The Teacher Who Couldn’t Read, John Corcoran, on September 30. He will also be addressing OHS students in the morning and SUNY Oswego College Hour at noon. College Hour is held at Campus Center Auditorium Room 118 and is open to the public.

LVOC Presents ‘The Teacher Who Couldn’t Read’: His Story

In 1961, he graduated college; by 1979, he had taught 17 years of high school English; in the early 1980s he made $50 million dollars in real-estate development – all this before he learned to read. Literacy advocate and author John Corcoran will be sharing his story at Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County’s (LOVC) 25th anniversary dinner on Wed., Sept. 30.
